I shot this photo during the Red Bull Kitesurfing contest in Capetown. As kitesurfing competitors would exit the field, assistants would often move equipment to and fro. I saw this two pulling boats and kites down the beach playfully and snapped away.
I’m still unsure why exactly there was a tufted couch on the sand at this California beach, but it certainly made for an interesting photo! And no, I did not have an opportunity to lounge on it (though I wish I did).
Golden hour is one of my favorite times to shoot on the beach, and this day for no exception. I saw the light reflecting off the water the the wooden legs of the pier and was completely enraptured.
Muizenberg is a hippie town fairly close to Capetown featuring warmer waters and gentler, soft waves. Exiting the train station, I was struck by how much the beach area reminded me of a Southern Californian beach town. Another staple feature of Muizenberg are these colorful beach houses.
